It’s my birthday (ugggh) soon, and for the life of me I can’t think of any presents I want. I’m not rich by any means, but there’s nothing I need. There will always be lust-afters, but the thrill of attaining these dulls as soon as I turn on the news and see person after person doing it hard. So instead of chasing an American Express high, I asked the bloke to make a donation to a charity. I do believe there is no such thing as an altruistic act, so there’s a level of selfishness involved, but the happiness I get from this will last longer than a new dress.
I told my friend George (the size of her heart matches her Google skills) this in passing and today she sent me this link. Love it. Donations as wedding favours. If you’re organising a wedding, a party or having a birthday and feel like really, you have more than you could ever need and the good stuff should be spread a little more around, this is an awesome way to go.
