Hello again patient friend! How are you?
I’m good, busy, but good. And I’ve become obsessed with gardening. For the first time in my life, I have my own (little) garden. And I love it more than I ever thought I could. If I’m stuck in traffic, instead of planning my dinner, I think about what I can do to juzz it up. How’s that for old age kicking in?
Especially inspiring is Wendy’s Garden (bottom two photos). A derelict piece of land Wendy Whiteley (artist Brett Whiteley’s widow) secretly started landscaping by Sydney Harbour. A tiny haven in the middle of a crazy city. Hi ho hi ho, it’s off to the nursery we go.
Remember when we had the paper flower tutorial via 100 Layer Cake? Well here they are in-home. Pretty non?
How cool is this? The bride’s mother came up with the design and proceeded to help make 30 of them for the wedding. The one photographed here was made out of watercolor paper and hand watercolored peaches and pinks. Click through for the tutorial so you can make yourself a menagerie of paper flowers too.
I know they’ve been done a fair bit now, but I still love the idea of a vintage brooch bouquet – especially if it’s family heirloom treasures or special memories you’re carrying with you. Here are some instructions if you wanted to give it a go. My only advice: be über selective with your brooch choice!
